The internet of things (IoT)
The internet of things (IoT) which has grown and been spreading in recent years, has added many innovations to our daily life. From the automotive sector to the white goods sector, from airplanes to various computer systems, the IoT continues to enter our lives every day. In the World Economic Forum (2015), it is predicted that in 2020 the number of objects connected to the IoT devices will be 50.1 million. It is estimated that this number will reach 28.4 million in 2017, 34.8 million in 2018 and reach 42.1 million in 2019.
As seen in the table above, the use of the IoT devices spreads in a different area day by day, and this spreading has become more and more intense. But increased automation systems and digitalization have created new security vulnerabilities. Naturally, it is a matter of debate whether these objects, which are connected to the Internet and store very important personal information and that significantly, will affect the physical environment of the users so that the users can not trust the IoT devices.
One of the security considerations is the communication between the IoT devices and cloud-based application or infrastructure. For example, the smart water meter can show the size of a particular household and the daily activity model. In addition, as with various car models where the IoT are active, many aircraft and jet-model security vulnerabilities can cause the cyber attacks to be out of control.
We see that IoT devices are growing and spreading strongly. The IoT devices can include all kinds of physical devices and machines that have the ability to share information, process analytical operations, and cloud features of the machine and network cloud
IoT devices have provided new services or functions in many industries, in many areas of society, and in the daily tasks of some consumers. In our daily life, the increase of IoT devices usage brings the network and all objects together to make the internet ecosystem safe for everyone.
